Why do they call it Swine instead of bird flu or something like that?

Last I heard about the flu virus in Mexico was that it is a combination of swine (pig), avian (bird) and human viruses. That makes it particularly virulent. It may be primarily swine or it may have first been identified as swine before they knew much about it.
