Kent-Amiga deal: $10M over 20 years

Three days after announcing that software maker Amiga Inc. bought the naming rights to Kent's proposed multipurpose arena, city officials revealed the terms of the deal -- $10 million over 20 years.

The city will receive $2.5 million from Amiga upfront upon the start of construction, said Ben Wolters, Kent's economic development director.

The proposed arena -- to be called the Amiga Center at Kent -- will have 6,025 seats and will serve as home to the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League.

The arena will cost about $67 million. Kent wants about $30 million from the state to help cover construction costs. In addition to the Thunderbirds, the arena will host concerts and other events.

Amiga is based in New York.
