CANTON A rental house at 1935 Market Ave. N turns into party central on some weekends, waking neighbors and lining streets with parked cars.

Beer cans and bottles get tossed onto other properties.

That's what residents near the house in the historic Ridgewood neighborhood say they have dealt with since five Malone University students moved into the two-and-a-half story, seven-bedroom house.

After hearing a chorus of complaints about noise and other disturbances created at the house, the Board of Zoning Appeals voted 4-0 Tuesday night against the property owner's request for a conditional-use designation so he could make it a boarding house.

Since late summer, William Cronin III, who owns the home on Market Avenue, has been leasing the house to the students without a certificate of occupancy, which is required for rental properties.
