Looking ahead to the Kentucky primary on May 20, Barack Obama can count on the support of the state’s popular Representative Ben Chandler, who endorsed him Tuesday

Mr. Chandler’s support means that Mr. Obama has the backing of both Democratic Kentucky House members

In addition, Richard Machacek, an Iowa farmer and member of the party’s state central committee, endorsed Senator Obama today

Mr. Machacek told The Des Moines Register that he was impressed with the strong showing Mr. Obama made at the state district convention last weekend. Senator Obama won 16 of Iowa’s 29 pledged delegates, compared to nine for Senator Clinton and four for John Edwards, even though he has dropped out of the race.

Since Mrs. Clinton’s win in the Pennsylvania primary, Mr. Obama has landed more superdelegates, 7 to 3.
