Pakistani fighter jets have bombed a number of districts in western Pakistan in the past four days, including Orakzai and Bannu. The military said the targets included a religious school that the Taliban was using as a hide-out.

The airstrikes on Saturday took place in the town of Makeen, thought to be the stronghold of Mr. Mehsud, who has declared an all-out war with Pakistan.
