Elwood, a Chinese crested chihuahua mix, has been crowned world's ugliest dog at a US county fair.

The win has delighted owner Karen Quigley, of New Jersey, who thinks Elwood is "the cutest thing that ever lived".

Dark coloured and hairless -- save for a puff of white fur on his head -- Elwood, 2, is often referred to as Yoda or ET because of his resemblance to the sci-fi characters.
