PRIMARY school pupils were forced to listen to an ELTON JOHN record as part of an assembly on being gay.

Outrage ... pupils made to listen to Elton John

The assembly on same sex relationships was part of the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia at Bromstone Primary in Broadstairs, Kent.

And during the barmy talk kids were played songs by gay crooner Elton, whose hits include Candle In The Wind.

But those who complained to the school said they were branded "homophobic" for questioning the session.

"I think for the older children they could understand as they tend to know about things already. But for my younger daughter Keira I think it was quite confusing."

He said it was part of a countywide initiative encouraged by Kent County Council, and many parents had congratulated the school in tackling the issue in such a sensitive way.
