IPOH: Illegal betting syndicates in Perak have refused to accept bets on the hotel room number where an obscene video involving former health minister Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek was believed to have been recorded.

Dr Chua, who was also MCA vice-president, resigned from all posts in the government and party after a DVD recording of his sexual escapade with a woman at a hotel in Batu Pahat was distributed.
"We are not taking any more chances this time around. The last time we accepted bets after a particular set of numbers was published on the front page of a Chinese daily, we were badly hit and lost several million ringgit," said a source.
A runner for another syndicate said that although the chances of the number winning first prize were relatively small, his bosses had decided to play safe.
